Kato is an autonomous hedge fund coming to Robinhood Chain. Its agents size, hedge and execute around the clock, and every trade settles onchain. Kato is capital that allocates itself.
The idea
Markets never close anymore. Onchain, thousands of venues run around the clock across dozens of chains. New pools open by the hour. Reward programs launch, peak and fade inside a week.
More opportunity appears in a single day than any team could research in a month. Most of it is gone before anyone has the chance to look.
The traditional fund was designed for markets with office hours: analysts, committees, morning meetings, quarterly letters. That design worked when information moved slowly and venues were few. Onchain, it leaves almost everything on the table.
An autonomous fund is built for the market as it is now. It watches every venue at once and acts in seconds. Its limits are code, enforced on every order. Every decision it makes is recorded and public, so trust comes from the record itself.
Capital is learning to manage itself. Kato intends to be the first fund worth watching.
What Kato does
Kato makes markets. When a trader wants to buy or sell an option, Kato quotes a price, takes the other side and hedges the risk away. It earns the spread and the rewards venues pay to makers, and it puts idle capital to work providing liquidity.
Where it's going
Options were the first market Kato learned. They won't be the last. Its builders are already working on new venues, new assets and new strategies. Each one gets tested against years of market history, funded small, then scaled as it earns its place.
The end state is a fund that finds its own opportunities, funds them, manages them and reports on them, with nothing in the loop but the market and the code.
